The artwork explores transformation of biological form and structure, and metamorphosis depicted in Greek mythology. The various Greek creation myths that inspired the series of artwork include: Hyacinthus, a lover of Apollo, who was killed by the wind God Zephyr. As Hyacinthus lay dying, Apollo transformed his blood into flowers, inspiring the 3d scanned florals. Further inspiration was taken from the myth of Apollo and Daphne, who metamorphosed into a tree to escape the unrequited affection of Apollo.
